10 of Swords

Today, we’ve been battered by storm after storm after storm.  Tornadoes have torn through communities, destroying life and property.  I watched a huge one that was being streamed live as it hit northern Birmingham, AL.  The rivers and creeks around where I live are moving toward flood stages, and won’t crest for several hours, though it won’t be what it was in May of last year.  Still there will be some low level flooding.

It’s been a nightmare of a day.  And it actually started last night.  But, just a few moments ago, I looked out the balcony door and saw a beautiful sunset.  The worst is over.  And when I looked at it, the scene reminded me so much of the 10 of Swords.  I love it when that happens… when I see in the happenings of my life, the cards in action.  It’s such an amazing affirmation of their meaning, their depth, their symbolism.

Fiery, Intuitive Woman

The moon has moved to the Disseminating phase.  Sharing information, abilities, the self, resources, etc.  The card I’ve drawn for this phase is the Queen of Wands.  She’s a fiery, creative and intuitive woman.  She can also be quite introspective and quietly strong.  This is the card my tarot friends tell me they associate with me, I don’t always see it, but, I’ll take it! So the next couple of days needs to be about me working with the energy of this card.

The daily draw for me today was the Page of Pentacles reversed. What resonated with me today about this card was the loss More

It’s Time to Take Action!

On this rainy, stormy Monday here in the Southeast, we start a new moon phase.  This one is the First Quarter.  During this phase, it’s time to take action.  Start making moves toward the goals.  Interestingly enough, my card for today was the 8 of Cups – a card all about action. More

Here Comes the Sun!!

Have you heard the Beatles song, “Here Comes the Sun”?  Well one of Friday’s cards was The Sun, and as soon as I pulled it, I could hear that song playing in the background!  And what an appropriate song for that card!

The Sun reminds us to be More

Another pair of Men!

A new phase of the moon starts today, that of the Crescent moon.  Zodiac Arts says:

“Keywords for the Crescent phase are: expansion, growth, struggle, opportunity.  It is the time in a cycle that you gather the wisdom learned in the new phase and communicate your intention to move forward.  Light a candle.  Write or read an affirmation.  Listen and absorb.  Commit to your goal.”

My card for this phase turns out to be More

Major and Minor Leadership

On this last day of the New Moon phase, my card pairing is the King of Swords (on the left) and The Emperor (on the Right).  These two cards are very, very much alike.  Both men face us directly, though their eyes are turned slightly to the West.  Each holds something in their right hand that speaks to More

A Marriage Made in Heaven? Maybe.

My card pairing for today is the Queen of Cups and The Emperor, the Queen being my card for the day (on the left), and the Emperor being the card for the New Moon phase (on the right).

What first strikes me about these two is the isolation.  More

New Moon Visualizations and Messages

Today is the New Moon in the sign of Aries.  It’s a time to visualize what you want to manifest in the coming lunar cycle.  As has become my practice, I drew a card to represent the moon phase and my regular card for the day.

The card I drew for the moon phase was The Emperor.  Funny that. The Emperor is associated with Aries.  It’s also considered the 4th Major Arcana card.

The card I drew for the day was the 4 of Pentacles.

The 4th of April, the 4 of Pentacles, and The Emperor also a 4.  Pretty interesting, huh?

Spiritual Numerology has this to say about the meaning of the number 4:

“You are practical, detail-oriented, organized, orderly, systematic, methodical, precise, reliable, punctual, dependable, honest, trustworthy, without artifice.  You are the rock and cornerstone of an enterprise, you don’t give up easily, you are perseverant and a hard worker.”

Now, let’s look at the Emperor.  He’s a successful man who has achieved his goals through the very traits outlined about the number 4.  He is no stranger to hard work, and he’s incredibly strategic in his plans.  He is the manifestation of success.

And Aires?   Well, it’s the first sign of the Zodiac and is associated with the element of Fire.  Aires is the spark, the jump-start, the kick in the pants we need to go out there and “DO.”

But, the plot thickens!  I’m a Virgo, with an ascendent of Aries.

What a powerful message!  This is one of those times when the Universe hits me over the head.  The message to me is that it’s time for me to bring to bear the traits of The Emperor, while also protecting my time, energy and money such that I can bring to fruition the creative endeavors I want to manifest.

It’s time for me to get strategic about what I want to accomplish.

This is just one of the amazing ways in which the tarot works!
